Kenny Lattimore’s 2021 album Here To Stay has lived up to its title. The project has spawned numerous singles, including the sleeper hit “Take A Dose,” which gave Kenny his first No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B chart in 25 years earlier this year. As we approach the album’s second anniversary, he’s showing that it’s got staying power with current single “Never Knew,” which has been joined by a serene lyric video.
The crooner keeps it butter smooth on “Never Knew.” He lets the leading lady in his life know that he’s never known a love like her before. Before he met her, he’d given up on finding the one, but she changed his outlook on life and love. He pours all his feelings of joy into the lyrics.
“I never knew love could be real / Until I saw you / I never knew how love should feel / Til I touched you / I never knew what love could do / The way you changed my life / Now it's better than even I realized / I never knew,” Kenny sings on the enchanting chorus.
The enchantment continues in the lyric visual directed by Ron T. Young. He captures Kenny in a collection of shots on a beach from daylight to dusk. The focus is on him against this gorgeous setting while the lyrics float in and out on the screen and waves roll in on the shoreline. Kenny may be alone in the clip, but his beloved is in his heart and always on his mind.
