Surprisingly, Keke Wyatt’s latest drop isn’t a baby. The R&B diva has announced the forthcoming arrival of her new album with its lead single “Water Into Wine.”
Wyatt’s latest track is a warning to a significant other who is falling down on the job, and she doesn’t hold her tongue. “Foolish / Stupid / Clueless / That’s how you can be sometimes,” she laments on the first verse. She does soften the blow, though, singing, “You can be lovin’ / That’s why I love when / You’re next to me / Woo I need you in my life,” making it clear that she wants to stay before laying out her demands.
“You ain’t got to be perfect / As long as you keep working / I’m willing to work with what you give me,” she sings. Wyatt puts her lover on notice that he’s got to step his game up if he wants the relationship to last.
Keke declares that she’s no miracle worker on the chorus. “But I can’t turn no water into wine / Give sight to the blind / Baby I don’t specialize in making miracles,” she explains, letting him know her patience is running out. If he doesn’t get it together and love her like she’s the last woman on earth, it’s over.
Wyatt expressed excitement about her new project in a press release for the single. “Fans can expect some good ole sanging, honey!! I want to give my fans the gift of love, hope and trust with my new music. However, don't get it twisted because I'm singing about it all. I think everyone will be able to relate to this album,” she said of the forthcoming release.
If “Water Into Wine” is a preview of coming attractions, Keke Wyatt may just have a hit on her hands. The highly anticipated album is her first in six years and will be released on Shanachie Entertainment later this year. While we await Keke’s next music move and the premiere of her WE tv reality show Keke Wyatt’s World in October, listen to her latest below and add it to your playlists from an array of digital music services.
