Jade Novah has easily become an artist that we look forward to hearing from whenever we can. The best part about that is that the indie singer-songwriter loves to drop musical gems at a steady pace. This year alone she’s already given us two stellar singles — “Butterfly” and “Like That” — and she’s already back with her third, the vulnerable new cut “Affirm Me.”
Jade turns to her partner in life and music Devin Johnson once again to provide the song’s musical production and he doesn’t disappoint. He breathes life into the track with delicate guitar, subtle strings and slightly distorted backing vocals that he gives a modern edge with a drum track that stutters slightly as the song progresses.
That sound bed is perfect for Jade to detail her love language, which happens to be words of affirmation. She explains this through the lyrics while also making sure to assert that she’s not needy, but an encouraging word or two can go a long way.
“Can you just help? / Make me feel safe / Never desert me,” she sings on the chorus. “I need to feel seen / Can you affirm me? / Write in the clouds that you love me / Scream from the top of your lungs / Tell me I’m thе one.”
