The phrase “Location, location, location” may have its roots in real estate, but it’s applicable to creative endeavors as well. Certain places and spaces just spark creativity. Eric Roberson understands this, and when it was time to film the video for his new single “Things Meant For Me,” an inspired setting was key.
“We wanted the video for ‘Things Meant For Me’ to naturally come together like the song did,” Erro wrote on Instagram about the thought process he and director Steven Jon of Oh Yeah Cool had. “The location took our breath away, so [we] decided to shoot there. We wanted to showcase a land of discovery.”
This “land of discovery” Roberson found is a comfortable, quaintly decorated room where we find him in his element. No, he’s not on stage rocking the mic in front of a sold-out crowd. The devoted husband and father of three is instead enjoying his solitude and some peace and quiet while reading a stack of books and getting lost in his thoughts.
A guitar in the background doesn’t remain there for long before the multihyphenate picks it up and begins to strum away. Throughout the visual, Eric alternates between reading, thinking, playing and he even breaks out his pen and pad to presumably write his next hit song.
Although not a lyric video, certain key lyrics appear intermittently on-screen for emphasis as Eric wants people to heed the message in the music. “I hope the room, the song, the video and inspiration behind it all, moves others to take the time to find what’s there for them,” he also shared on Instagram.
