We’ve all heard the rumblings on social media on whether R&B is dead. Those of us who are paying attention emphatically note that it is indeed alive and well, and we have the likes of several well-known and underground artists to thank for consistently breathing new life into the sacred genre. Prime examples of this type of allegiance and authenticity are Xavier Omär and ELHAE. Both distinguished singers, songwriters and producers in their own right, the dynamic duo team up once again for a new single entitled “Favourite.”
Over the gorgeous TAVE and Agajon-produced track, they simply seize the opportunity to affirm their lover. “Just know you’ll always be enough / I didn't know the way I need you / Special for love, it’s different people / If you ever doubt I’m sure, I’m yours,” Xavier croons on the first verse. ELHAE backs up his sincerity with his own lyrics that follow as the pair goes back and forth throughout the chill tune.
Previously uniting as the duo NVR DRM, it’s evident that ELHAE and Xavier Omär have killer chemistry together. This latest collaboration follows their tracks “Vulnerable” and “Sick Of Playing,” which was featured on ELHAE’s 2021 project Aura III.
While ELHAE recently wrapped up a tour in support of his EP Forgotten Flowers, Xavier will kick off his From Near And Far: The September Sessions tour next month. Noting live performances as his sweet spot during a recent podcast hosted by Australian musician/producer Ta-ku (who coincidently featured Xavier on his single “Smile” along with ROMderful and DAISY WORLD), he also hints at a joint project with “one of his homies” and possibly co-headlining a string of shows before the end of the year.
Although we don’t want to jinx anything, fans of both artists are taking the new single as confirmation and are collectively touching and agreeing that things continue to fall into place. We are all eager to experience the magic made between ELHAE and Xavier Omär in real-time.
