CAMP Drops A Groove For Every ‘SummerBaby’

CAMP has been in a zone all 2023. His creative juices have been flowing since January when he dropped the track “CNTRL” followed by the Valentine’s Day release of “CHAMPAGNE FOREVER” and the arrival of “TASTE” in April. All those songs were a soulful preview of coming attractions from the artist who is on the verge of releasing his highly-anticipated EP SUMMERBABY led by the singles “IDC” and the title cut “SummerBaby.”

On “SummerBaby,” CAMP wants you to move, and he makes it easy with this dance floor-ready cut. Producers Kenneth Wright, Irvin Washington and Curtis Wright channel the master Quincy Jones to give CAMP a disco groove that sounds like something from Michael Jackson’s Off The Wall era. Piano, synths, guitar and percussion complement the track’s slick bassline and provide the foundation for the romantic number.

CAMP is out at a summer function and meets a PYT who’s got him wide open. The champagne is flowing and vibes are heavy between them as he breaks out into song. “Taking chances she’s the one I want / Can’t shake this feeling, baby, like déjà vu / It’s like there’s magic, baby, between me and you / So let’s fall like lovers do / We should fall like lovers do,” he serenades this cutie while two-stepping and twirling the night away.

“SummerBaby” is a jam that’s right on time for Leo season. Thankfully fans don’t have long to wait for more from CAMP. His SUMMERBABY EP will actually be here in a matter of hours. The project drops at the stroke of 12 a.m. ET tonight. The set features six songs and, in addition to the Kevin Ross feature on “IDC,” CAMP welcomes guests BeMyFiasco and Max Swan.
