As of the time of this writing, there are only 63 days left in the summer. We don’t know about you, but we’re trying to make the best of the warm, sun-filled days we have left. Snoh Aalegra seems to be about that life too, as she’s offering us a lovely new song for those looking for love called “Be My Summer.”
“Be My Summer,” which finds Snoh once again collaborating with Ari PenSmith, offers up more of her flowery, romantic side that got audiences open and garnered her industry accolades. With warm synth chords and lush, choir-like backing harmonies, the song allows the songstress to do what she does best.
She sings of trying to move on from a lover, however her heart won’t let her. Instead she finds herself falling in love all over again. “You’ve taken tenure in my heart / I can’t change how I feel / Tried moving on but / I’m right here where we left off," she sings. The love has seemed to thaw her feelings and she’s feeling warm and fuzzy, singing on the chorus, “Be my summer / Protect me from the rain.”
This is the first new music we’re getting from Snoh Aalegra since her stellar 2021 effort TEMPORARY HIGHS IN THE VIOLET SKIES, which spawned jams like “LOST YOU” and “NEON PEACH.” Does “Be My Summer” signify something new is on the horizon? We sure hope so! Stream the song right here and then hop below to peep its lyric video.
