We can’t be the only ones who watch the STARZ hit Run The World with our Shazam app open. Though Whitney, Sondi and Renee certainly keep us engaged with their relentless yet relatable drama, the accompanying soundscape is just as intriguing. With master musicians Robert Glasper and Derrick Hodge at the helm, Season 1’s score set the vibe and Season 2 impeccably follows suit. Following the release of the soundtrack’s lead single “What Love Can Do” featuring Emily King, Glasper keeps it going with “Back To Love” with SiR and Alex Isley.
Over dazzling keys and delicate percussion, SiR and Alex sing of the resilience of true love and the intention it takes to put the pieces together when things fall apart. The mood is both urgent and sincere as they sing, “I don’t wanna give this up / Not tonight / Let’s bring it back to love, back to life.”.
While we’re well aware the magic made when Glasper enlists the talents of other amazing artists to top off his signature sound, this time he keeps things all in the family. His son Riley Glasper serves as co-producer making for what is perhaps his most special collaboration yet.
