We love a birthday around here at SBHQ. We especially love it when we get to celebrate one of our own. SoulBounce brother Rob Milton celebrated another revolution around the sun this week and rightfully got his flowers from his peers and legends alike (including a shoutout from legendary producer Jimmy Jam). And he’s gifting fans and fam alike with the release of his new single “Head Up Song.”
- it’s my birthday, y’all! super blessed to see another year and more of my dreams come true! 🎈

I just dropped something special called “Head Up Song” as my gift to you! shout out to THE 🐐 @flytetymejam for this message! 🙌🏾 KEEP YOUR HEAD UP! https://t.co/HLuKt8SShw pic.twitter.com/vzIQcDiig4
“Head Up Song” offers the gift of encouragement to all who listen with a sincere message in the songwriting. Over a smooth, guitar-laden groove crafted by Dana “Big Dane” Johnson, he encourages us to “keep your head above the water” in these trying times.
The song acts as a note to self as Rob calls himself up to let him know he’s doing just fine. “Hey you, I know today was hard for you / But you still made it through,” he sings. “First off, I want to tell you that I’m proud of you / Can you believe what you pushed past? / Can you believe how you made it last?” It’s a representation of a conversation that we should all have with ourselves to remind us that we accomplish feats of greatness big and small on a regular basis. It also reminds us to keep persevering in spite of what we might be going through.
It’s clear that Rob Milton has been taking his own advice, as 2023 so far has been another banner year for the singer-songwriter. In addition to “Head Up Song,” he’s released his southern-fried ditty “Mean A Thing” with Micah Robinson as well as his latest phenomenal EP Wish U Well within the past two months. We might have to change Rob’s name to “Mr. Prolific.”
Join us in celebrating all that is Rob Milton when you catch up with Mr. Prolific himself by listening to “Head Up Song” below. Then stick around to listen to “Mean A Thing” and Wish U Well. And, because this is Rob we’re talking about, keep your eyes and ears out for whatever else he has in store for us this year.
