Last summer, the world was taken by the story of two ladies from Miami on the come-up on Issa Rae’s Insecure follow-up Rap Sh!t. We all followed the adventures of Shawna (Aida Osman) and Mia (KaMillion) as they creep up on a come-up in the rap game. A year has passed and now it’s time to jump right back into the story for a second season this August. To get us hyped up, streaming service Max has finally released a teaser trailer.
The trailer picks up (sort of) where we left off as the ladies’ star keeps rising as they support ridiculous rapper Reina Reign (Kat Cunning) on tour. Shenanigans, of course, ensue as they face more of the bright lights and pitfalls that come with trying to make a name for yourself in the music industry. We also see familiar faces, including producer Francois Boom (Jaboukie Young-White), as the ladies break into the game the hard way.
There are several plotlines not addressed here that we can’t wait to see shake out, but this is just enough to wet our whistles for what Shawna and Mia have popping next.
