When Musiq Soulchild introduced his rapper persona The Husel back in 2014, fans of his brand of soulful R&B weren’t exactly ready for the Auto-Tuned switcheroo. Musiq has kept The Husel alive, however, and he reintroduced his alter ego on the album Victims & Villains in collaboration with Hit-Boy. The Husel is back like he never left on the track “imreallytrynaf*ckwichu,” which is the next song to get a music video from the project.
Caleb Seales is behind the lens once again, and the director alternates between scenes of Musiq as The Husel, Musiq as himself and a fly-ass couple out on a date. The Husel is decked out in all black as he talk-sings the scandalous yet catchy chorus, “Baby, tell me what you wanna do / I’m really tryna f**k with you / If you ain’t tryna f**k that’s cool / I’m just wanna know what’s my next move.”
A Musiq Soulchild video wouldn’t be a Musiq Soulchild video without some denim, and the singer sports his signature fabric in scenes when he sings the verses. In between Musiq and The Husel vying for screentime, we tag along with the couple on their night out on the town.
With this clip for “imreallytrynaf*ckwichu,” Mr. Soulchild is well on his way to delivering a Victims & Villains visual album at this point. He hasn’t confirmed it yet, but we suspect that the singer is definitely up to something.
After dropping videos for “beat of a slow dance,” “i remember you my ex,” “victims and villains,” “will i touch the sky” and “between love and war,” this is his sixth visual with a seventh – for the track “is it love, is it lies” – actually dropping tomorrow (July 25th). We’re pretty sure that videos for the remaining three songs won’t be too far behind. Let Musiq Soulchild continue to entertain you when you watch “imreallytrynaf*ckwichu” right here.
