This is going to be a big summer for Goapele. She will not only be going on tour, but she’ll be releasing a new album, too. So far, the “Closer” singer has kept it pretty lowkey about her forthcoming music, but she’s spreading the news about her tour dates and all the cities she’ll be hitting.
Goapele’s summer 2023 tour will feature a mix of headlining concerts and festival appearances. Her journey begins tomorrow (July 7th) with a show in Fresno, California at Fulton 55. She’ll pack her bags and pick things up in Hawaii on July 27th with a concert at Blue Note Hawaii. From there, she’ll grace the stages of the Umoja Festival in Seattle and the VanPort Jazz Fest in Portland in August. After that, she’ll conclude the tour with a City Winery run, which will take her to City Winery locations in New York City, Philadelphia and Chicago.
In between these show dates, Goapele may just drop her new music on us, although she hasn’t stated exactly when. She has assured fans that her new album is coming this summer, though, so she has until September 23rd to make good on that promise.
This new project is the long-awaited follow-up to her 2017 EP Dreamseeker. According to a press release, “The eagerly awaited collection of new music is a testament to her artistic vision and validates her ability to explore new sounds while incorporating elements appealing to all five human senses and staying true to her soulful roots.”
Well, it looks like we’re officially on Goapele album watch now. Whatever she releases and whenever she chooses to release it, the prospect of new Goapele is music to our ears.
