On this day in 1958, a king named Prince was born. Had he lived to see this dawn, he would have been the sexiest MF to ever turn 65. Unfortunately, that wasn’t meant to be when he was booked to perform on a heavenly stage 7 years ago. Although Prince is not here to celebrate his birthday – which as a devout Jehovah’s Witness he didn’t do anyway – that isn’t stopping Paisley Park from having their Celebration 2023 this week and bringing friends and family of fans from around the world together to commemorate his life, legacy and lavish catalog of music.

Paisley Park’s annual event began in April 2017 to mark the one-year anniversary of Prince’s untimely death. After Celebrations in 2017, 2018 and 2019, it was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic but returned in 2022 and officially made its move to June, coinciding with his birthday month.

Celebration 2023 will take place at Prince’s Paisley Park compound in Chanhassen, Minnesota from Thursday, June 8th through Sunday, June 11th. Celebrants will get to experience the iconic superstar’s beloved recording studio, museum and concert venue like never before with exclusive access to unreleased music and performances from his infamous vault.

The four-day weekend’s schedule is also stacked with star power. There will be conversations with Chaka Khan, Chuck D, Doug E. Fresh and D-Nice and discussions with members of Prince’s fan community. Attendees should come prepared to work up a black sweat during D-Nice’s Sexy MF Dance Party on Friday night and DJ Rashida’s Club 3121 Throwback party in remembrance of Prince and Tina Turner on Saturday night.

On the live performance side of things, fans can also look forward to seeing members of Prince’s longtime band NPG, Stokley, Sounds Of Blackness, Shelby J, The Steeles, Known MPLS and surprise guests perform in addition to a new artist showcase. There will also be a special tribute to the singer Rosie Gaines, a founding member of NPG who famously duetted with Prince on “Diamonds And Pearls.”

Ain’t no party like a Paisley Park party, and we’re sure that Celebration 2023 will be one for the record books. Tickets are still available, so if you haven’t made plans to attend yet, you still have time to get something purple to wear and to get to Paisley Park to have to time of your life while paying homage to Prince’s life.

If you can’t make it to Celebration 2023, join us in raising a toast to Prince in honor of his 65th birthday and playing his music all day on repeat. He may be gone, but he’s never forgotten. Cheers to #Prince65!
