Erica Campbell kicked off 2023 with her latest single “Feel Alright (Blessed).” The song, co-written by her husband Warryn Campbell and gospel superstar Marvin L. Winans, is a joyous praise party. Erica brings that energy to the song’s music video with a vibrant, family cookout-themed visual.
Campbell wanted the video for the upbeat track to be a spirited, family-centric celebration. “I wanted this video to feel like a celebration of the goodness of God for us to dance and sing and just let the joy flow because we are so grateful for how God has blessed us. It’s high energy. It’s fun. It’s all smiles. It’s family. It’s multi-generational, and I believe it’s going to bless people. ‘Feel Alright’ feels so good,” she said of the song and accompanying video via press release.
Director Rich Laru understood the assignment and delivers a feel-good capture that is teeming with love and happiness. The video opens with a drone flight over Campbell’s California neighborhood that lands us on her doorstep. The nationally-syndicated radio show host opens her door to find an uninvited guest with a colorful shirt and coordinating hat trying to get into the cookout. The “stranger” is GRIFF, her Get Up! Mornings with Erica Campbell co-host, and he makes the first of many cameos by Campbell’s real-life family members and friends.
As guests arrive and squeeze their way past GRIFF, the camera zooms in on Campbell, dancing and singing as Laru captures scenes of the exuberant gathering in full swing. Erica is radiant in a bright pink curly afro wig and an orange and teal bustier dress with bold statement jewelry. It is the first of four outfit changes she makes in the video, the last being a magenta swimsuit as she splashes in the pool with the kids. GRIFF eventually joins the fun and brings his usual comedic shenanigans to the fête.
Erica Campbell has us looking forward to time with family and friends this summer with this fun-loving video for “Feel Alright (Blessed).” The song follows her GRAMMY-nominated and NAACP Award-winning single “Positive” and is the second song and video pairing from her third studio album due out later this summer.
