The girl is still on fire! We already knew Alicia Keys had big plans for 2023 thanks to her upcoming Keys To The Summer Tour. Now it seems that she has even more in store as it has just been announced that a jukebox musical inspired by her life will be premiering this fall in New York City.
Hell’s Kitchen is written by Pulitzer Prize winner Kristoffer Diaz and will follow 17-year-old Ali, who lives in the titular neighborhood in a small apartment with her mother. While Ali has aspirations of becoming a star, her mother has her own worries that her talented daughter might follow the same path as her. Those worries become even stronger when Ali falls in love with a charming, young drummer and the mother and daughter have to confront some hard truths.
While the musical will be stacked with Alicia’s songs, the cast will be equally stacked with talent. Playing Ali will be actress Maleah Joi Moon, with Broadway mainstays Shoshana Bean and Brandon Victor Dixon in the roles of her mother and father, respectively. Chris Lee and Kecia Lewis round out the rest of the principal cast.
Previews for Hell’s Kitchen will start at The Public Theater on October 24th, with the musical then beginning its official run November 19th through December 10th. We know we can’t wait to see what Alicia Keys and the show’s remarkable cast have in store for us this fall.
