We are days away from the Juneteenth: A Global Celebration For Freedom concert happening at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles and airing live on CNN and OWN on Monday, June 19th. If this year is anything like last year’s inaugural concert special, this musical extravaganza to commemorate the Juneteenth national holiday will blow your wig off, and the additions to the lineup pretty much seal the deal.
The expanded lineup for Juneteenth: A Global Celebration For Freedom includes funk and soul veteran Charlie Wilson fresh from his Black and excellent Tiny Desk Concert, Country Grammar rapper Nelly, contemporary R&B girlies Chlöe and Muni Long and saxman Mike Phillips. Adam Blackstone will pull double duty as a performer with a few special surprise guests and co-music director alongside Questlove.
All these artists will join the first wave of performers who were announced last month – Jodeci, SWV, Miguel, Kirk Franklin, Davido and Coi Leray – to round out the talent roster and provide concert attendees and viewers from around the world with a variety of Black music styles and sounds. As if all this wasn’t enough, the evening will also feature an appearance from Vice President Kamala Harris.
If you’d like to witness all this greatness on stage live and in-person at Greek Theatre, tickets are still available for purchase at the box office or online from Ticketmaster. Everyone else who can’t make it to the Greek can tune into CNN or OWN to watch live on Monday, June 19th starting at 8 p.m. ET.
