Songstress Victoria Monét has wowed us with a string of EPs, including her stellar 2020 effort JAGUAR. While that project caused quite a stir, it seems that our girl was just getting started with bringing us heat as she readies the release of its successor JAGUAR II. She primed us for what’s to come with her sticky icky Lucky Daye duet “Smoke.” Now, she’s giving us the full blast with her newest single “Party Girls.”
“Party Girls” is all about the women who keep the party going, something that Victoria should know all about as she’s definitely one of them. Working with frequent collaborator D’Mile and his producing pals EGO and Dready, she crafts a groove that marries R&B with traces of dancehall for something that feels just as breezy and fun as we’d expect. She plays the role of an enticing woman that can lure any man she sees, but she’s more interested in winin’ the night away.
Meanwhile, featured guest Buju Banton gets things jumping with his groove-switching guest verse that takes us deep into the dancehall and spices things up for the rest of the song. It’s only made better by Victoria stepping in to harmonize around his rhymes.
She keeps things smoking in the video, moving and grooving her way through a party with a sexy bejeweled outfit with her crew of dancers in tow. She winds and grinds indiscriminately before getting into super sexy choreography. Just like in the song, Buju’s appearance switches things up as the track gets grimier and the dancing gets dirtier. Eventually, the party goes full tilt as lighters are put up and everyone catches a vibe.
Victoria Monét hasn't announced when we can expect JAGUAR II, but the streets are whispering that it could drop as early as this summer. Until then, you can get into both the stream and video for “Party Girls” below.
