Sibling duo The Amours aren’t letting up on the gas as they put the finishing touches on their upcoming project. Like your newly single friends, sisters Jakiya Ayanna and Shaina Aisha are back outside just in time for the summer with their second single since linking up with Camper, “Before I Met You.”

Teaming up with the megaproducer once again, “Before I Met You” finds the ladies in a much better predicament than the one they found themselves in on their last single “Don’t Deserve.” Instead of wondering where it all went wrong, the ladies are now knee-deep in the throes of the kind of new love that leaves them trying to remember what life was like before.

“Ever since summer / You had me locked down / And lately I wonder / Just who I am now / ’Cause I can’t even do things / By myself anymore / And lately I wonder / Just who I was before ,” they sweetly sing over the sparse track of highlighted by piano, guitar and drums.

Sharing their excitement over the new single on Instagram, the sisters described the song as feeling like home, a vibe that carries over to the lyric video which, features a shot of one of their hometown’s most infamous restaurants, Ben’s Chili Bowl in Washington, D.C. The old-school font that spells out the song’s lyrics adds to the warm, nostalgic feel, making this the perfect way to kick off cookout season.
