Our baby girl Sy’Rai is all grown up! The budding singer, who just happens to be the daughter of R&B icon Brandy, broke the news that she would have an EP on its way this month and that it would be executive produced by her famous mom. Now we have the first listen to what is sure to be a stellar effort with the lead single “On My Own.”
The song, which she co-wrote with singer-songwriter Eric Bellinger, is all about stepping into her destiny on her own terms. With wavy, atmospheric production courtesy of producers Keyz Bridgez and Jared “ReezyTunes” Thorne, Sy’Rai stakes her claim and makes it known that she intends to own her talent and greatness in her own way.
“Think I finally arrived / It was so far from luck / Greatness is up to me / And I’m making that choice,” she sings on the track’s pre-chorus. “I’ve been taking my time / And I ain’t in a rush / I don’t wanna miss anything / It’ll cost me too much." Meanwhile, the chorus focuses on her growing into her craft and “still getting better” as her talent and confidence continue to grow.
We’ve been enjoying watching Sy’Rai grow ever since she released her first single “At Your Best” and it looks like her glow up and grow up will continue until she reaches the stratosphere.
