Little Dragon ignited our excitement with the announcement of their seventh album, Slugs Of Love, and its July arrival. They’ve wasted no time in previewing the set’s sound, with lead single “Slugs Of Love” and its follow-up “Kenneth” already out in the wild. The genre-bending crew continues to play with our expectations with the release of the set’s third single, “Gold.”

Where “Slugs Of Love” channeled post-punk and “Kenneth” dabbled in several genres at once, “Gold” seems the most like classic Little Dragon. The song blends up electronic, pop and R&B music and pulls from the mixture a dazzling synth number that once again highlights lead vocalist Yukimi Nagano’s poetic pen game.

She goes a bit more straightforward this time around, describing a feeling that money just can’t buy. “Make me laugh ’til I die / I stand beside you with pride,” she sings on the opening verse. “With you I feel everything come alive.” She then offers to shirk the material things in life for the way love has her feeling before laying it all out on the chorus.

“Ooh you make me feel / Like a million dollars / My rich life / Nothing no man can buy,” she sings. “Ooh you make me feel / Like a million dollars / This heart filled / Overflowing inside.”
