Washington, D.C.’s own Kevin Ross simultaneously capitalizes on his hit-making track record and pokes fun at those who critique the short and sweet nature of his songs with his latest single “First Dose.” The track serves as an opener to his upcoming EP Midnight Microdose, Vol. 1, and clearly states the project’s intent via spoken narration.

At just 43 seconds, the mesmerizing moment concludes with an intoxicating melodic loop of Ross singing, “Take what you need from me.” The enticing track’s brevity feels a bit unfair. If the goal was to leave listeners salivating for more, we’ll admit that his mission was indeed accomplished.

Kevin’s latest release follows his previous singles “Look My May” and “Show & Prove” and continues to set the tone for two forthcoming installment EPs and a full-length album. His stepwise approach serves him well and only enhances the anticipation of his adoring fanbase. As an independent artist, his ability to allow his art to lead and make his own rules along the way continues to solidify his position in the R&B game.
