Kenyon Dixon wants to keep his fans “Slow Dancing.” He’s already off to an excellent start with the single that sounds like a beloved throwback and gives us all the ’80s and ’90s R&B feels we crave in collaboration with Kincy. The song won’t be leaving our playlists anytime soon, and now Kenyon tightens his grip on us with a remix featuring fellow R&B fave Kevin Ross.
Kenny and Kev’s harmonies kick off the remix. “Real R&B s**t / Just like you need it / KD and K Ross / Sound like the remix,” they sing in unison before the body roll-inducing beat drops in. The sound bed keeps the same energy as the original, but Kenyon falls back to allow his guest to flex on the first verse.
Kevin steps up to the mic to talk his ish about a sexy link-up. “She like it rough like a demo / Fast is the tempo / No CD when you see me make our own instrumental,” he croons before pausing to the sound of bedsprings creaking. “I swear the mattress going platinum,” he continues, cleverly using music-related terminology.
R&B Kenny slides back in with more of the original track with added background flourishes and harmonies from Kev. The remainder of the song is pretty familiar with the exception of the revamped bridge and outro.
“And we gone give you what you’re missing for sure / Who said we don’t do bridges no more?” the fellas sing in response to social media debates about what’s been missing from R&B. “Let’s take our time I’ll hold you tight / So we can groove all night,” they go on crooning and have us swooning.
