Weeks after making a splash in the fashion world with her capsule collection with luxury fashion house Marni, Erykah Badu takes her bold beauty and eccentric style to the cover and pages of ELLE Brazil. She shares cover girl duties with Brazilian superstar Anitta in the “Volume 12” print edition, which also features interviews with both singers.
Badu was photographed for ELLE Brazil by the creative duo MAR+VIN during a recent visit to Brazil with her daughter Puma Curry. The publication posted her two covers and an additional look from the magazine feature to Instagram. Each image shows her rocking mile-high hats, adorned in funky accessories and with faux freckles sprinkled across her nose and cheeks.

She smolders on the first cover, staring into the camera in a patterned black and taupe top, long ivory gloves and a black scarf wrapped around her head and neck with a tall black hat. A white dove perched atop the hat finishes the outfit off. The second cover look has a spiritual feel as Badu poses in all black with her eyes closed and her hands raised. For the final image, Erykah is seen in green in a Gucci suit set off with a cane, her hat cocked to the side and a snarl to reveal her gem-encrusted grill.

The complete pictorial, “evokes healing rituals and Afro-Brazilian religions,” according to ELLE Brazil, and Badu is even joined in some photographs by Puma. The accompanying interview touches on numerous aspects of her life, including her experiences as a doula, her entry into the cannabis space, fashion, and, of course, music.
Erykah Badu fans in Brazil can get their hands on hard copies of ELLE Brazil now to read her interview and view her photos. For Badu fans not in Brazil, the magazine does ship the print edition internationally. Order this collector’s item on ELLE Brazil’s website.
