We’re glad to be in an era where our legends are getting the recognition and love they’ve always deserved. Just this year alone we’re getting a definitive documentary on Donna Summer and also seeing several celebrations involving the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. You can also add the legendary Chaka Khan to that list. It was recently announced that the “I Feel For You” singer will be the subject of a stage musical set to arrive in Fall 2024.

I’m Every Woman: The Chaka Khan Musical will chronicle the singer’s life and times that led her to become the venerable solo talent that she is today. The artist born Yvette Marie Stevens has led a storied life and that will be reflected in the play’s book, which is being written by celebrated screenwriter and playwright Tina Andrews, as it covers Chaka’s teenage years, her time as a Black Panther, her tenure and success with funk band Rufus and her resounding success as a solo artist to this very day.

The musical will bow in Fall 2024 at London’s West End, but production will begin on the project later this year. In August, auditions for three leads who will play Chaka at various ages will be held. Meanwhile, workshops for the musical will be held during October and November.

“London has a very special place in my heart, and I’m honored that my life and music will be celebrated on a West End stage,” the singer said in a press statement. “Working with such a talented team, producer Adrian Grant, writer Tina Andrews and director Racky Plews, on my life story is a dream come true.”
