Queen Angie Stone sings a love song fit for her king on her new single “Good Man.” The track is the latest soulful sample from her forthcoming tenth album Love Language and follows the singles “Kiss You” and “The Gym.”
On “Good Man,” Angie Stone is in a love zone. Over a soulful sound bed that features strings, horns and trap drums to blend the classic with the contemporary, she serenades her beloved.
“Now where do I start?” she briefly ponders before going all in about her real one on the first verse. “You took my heart off my sleeve / Got me feeling adored like a queen / I’m so glad I found you / I’ve been talking to God, not trying to sleep on the man of my dreams / ’Cause you’ve been so good to me, it’s my pleasure to hold you down.” She now has the man that she’s dreamed about and prayed for, and she makes sure that she’s the same for him.
Stone continues her lovefest on the chorus. “You make me say oh, oh / Can’t nobody love you like you do / ’Cause there’s nothing like the love of a good man,” she sings. For the rest of the song, she continues to pour into the one who makes her feel like she’s never felt before, and she’s all too happy to return that energy.
“Good Man” is classic Angie Stone. The newlywed songstress is clearly still in the honeymoon phase, and we love that for her – and us given all this good music she’s been inspired to create. Love Language already sounds like it will be put into immediate heavy rotation when it drops on Friday, May 19th. We are counting the days and will have “Good Man” on repeat until then.
