Usher’s name is in everyone’s mouths these days. If we’re not talking about his ongoing Las Vegas residency, we’re talking about his upcoming Lovers & Friends Fest or Parisian concert dates later this year. His new single “GLU” is also heavy on people’s brains and playlists, and for good reason, because lyrically it’s scorching hot, and vocally Usher is at the top of his game. Now he invites us into a session with his band to show and prove that those pristine vocals are all his and not studio enhanced.

The multitalented Mr. Raymond goes “Off The Record” with his band to rehearse “GLU” and lets us be a fly on the wall. Accompanied by Derek Cobbs on keys, Dmitry Gorodetsky on bass, Devon “Stixx” Taylor on drums, Erick Walls on guitar and Michael Burton, Wilbert Williams and Melvin Jones on horns, Usher sounds immaculate as he flaunts his range. Being the superstar that he is, he could have easily hogged the spotlight, but he gives his band ample opportunity to shine and all the players bring their A-game.

Truth be told, Usher’s “GLU” rehearsal sounds better than some artists’ whole concerts. We hope that this “Off The Record” episode is part of a series that gives us more behind-the-scenes exclusives and footage from Usher and his band.

Watch Usher and company make “GLU” come alive below, and plan now to see him perform live in either Las Vegas or Paris.
