Fans of ’90s R&B girl groups have been getting their fix of SWV and Xscape on Bravo for the past few weeks. Unfortunately, we’ve also been witnessing a whole lot of messy drama between the ladies who collectively star in the reality show SWV & Xscape: The Queens Of R&B. As the six-episode series nears its finale on Sunday night, both groups have been making the media rounds to promote it, and SWV made notable appearances on The Jennifer Hudson Show and Sherri this week.
Jennifer Hudson welcomed Cheryl “Coko” Gamble, Tamara “Taj” George and Leanne “LeLee” Lyons to her daytime talker on Tuesday. The Sisters With Voices opened the show with a medley of their hits “I’m So Into You” and “Right Here.” Glammed up in sparkly all-black outfits, they had the audience on their feet singing and dancing along with them. Jennifer was so into the performance, it looked like she was gonna bumrush the stage at any moment to join them as their fourth member.
SWV changed into tailored sequined suits when it was time to sit down with JHud for their interview and looked brand new. Jenny asked where her suit was, and LeLee made sure to give props to their stylist J. Bolin. The ladies took a stroll down memory lane with old photos and shared how the group was formed, where the name came from and a few other tidbits. The studio audience was surprised to learn that they even mentored a young Destiny’s Child in the group’s early days when they were known as Girls Tyme.
After filming The Jennifer Hudson Show in Los Angeles, SWV jetted across the country for their appearance on Thursday’s episode of Sherri. The ladies returned home to NYC in style in sexy, form-fitting all-black dresses. Taj and LeLee looked fab, but all eyes were on Coko who debuted a new short platinum blonde hairstyle that set her whole everything off.
Sherri Shepherd and SWV shared great conversation and hearty laughs throughout their interview segment. It was when the convo turned to The Queens Of R&B that things really got spicy. LeLee, Coko and Taj keep it cute, but their dismay was palpable and visible.
“We wish things would have kinda happened a little bit different, but it’s all love over here,” LeLee said about the experience that’s turned into a primetime mess. Meanwhile, Taj shared her reluctance to even sign onto the project. “I can’t do stress,” she said. “I have epilepsy, so I have to avoid stressful situations at all times, and I knew when seven women got together there would be stress.” Taj isn’t only a singer, apparently, she can see into the future, too.
The ladies shared how being on the reality show with Xscape has been challenging as well as dealing with internet trolls who think they can say anything. Taj continued keeping it real and admitted that she regrets doing The Queens Of R&B while Coko shook her head in agreement. “So much has been said, too much disrespect. It’s just been really crazy, and I honestly was not expecting it like that at all,” Coko summed up her feelings.

With one more episode of Queens Of R&B left to air, though, we’ll see how things play out. Watch SWV’s frank and in-depth interview on Sherri right here, and tune into the season finale (and quite possibly the series finale) of SWV & Xscape: The Queens Of R&B on Bravo on Sunday, April 9th at 8 p.m. EDT/7 p.m. CDT.
