Erykah Badu is going to be outside and possibly in your city this summer. The “On & On” singer is going on the Unfollow Me Tour where she’ll be the headliner and joined by her Soulquarians brother yasiin bey – the artist formerly known as Mos Def – and “more extraordinary guests.” With Badu and bey’s friend group consisting of some extremely talented artists, the as-yet-unnamed guests on this tour are going to be extraordinary indeed.
Badu announced the national arena tour today, which starts in late spring in June and runs through the thick of summer in July. Kicking off on Sunday, June 11th, the Unfollow Me Tour begins in Erykah’s home state of Texas with a show in San Antonio. She’ll go on to hit cities such as San Diego, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Denver, Chicago, Detroit, New York City, Newark, Norfolk, Atlanta, Nashville and Memphis. The tour will come full circle back to Texas, where it will end in her hometown of Dallas on Sunday, July 23rd.
The Unfollow Me Tour will stop in a total of 25 cities, all of which are located in the U.S. Unfortunately for our neighbors to the north and around the world, there are no tour dates scheduled in Canada or overseas. Erykah’s fans in other countries will have to plan a U.S. vacation to see her live in concert.
There’s no indication if this tour will be accompanied by the release of new music from Badu who is long overdue to bless us with something fresh. Her last release was in 2019 in collaboration with James Poyser on a cover of Squeeze’s “Tempted.” Could the Unfollow Me Tour be named after a new single from the songstress? We certainly hope so.
