ESSENCE Festival Of Culture organizers are continuing to roll out this year’s talent lineup. After dropping the first round of artists in March with an announcement that made our jaws drop, they continue to reel us in with the second round of performers added to the 2023 ESSENCE Festival Of Culture happening in New Orleans from June 30th through July 2nd. Leading the stacked pack is the iconic entertainer Missy Elliott who has been added as a headliner.
Missy returns to ESSENCE Fest after an epic performance in 2019 in celebration of ESSENCE magazine’s 25th anniversary. Now the 2023 Black Music Honors honoree is coming back to celebrate #HipHop50 and joins previously announced headliners Ms. Lauryn Hill and Megan Thee Stallion. These hip-hop queens will represent the genre well and rock the mic right, and they’re not the only ones.
The good times will roll and hip-hop heads will nod during a massive 50th-anniversary hip-hop set curated by Doug E. Fresh and featuring legendary emcees Big Daddy Kane, EPMD, KRS-One and Slick Rick. Jermaine Dupri will keep the party going during his curation entitled The South Got Something To Say, which will showcase the talents of Big Boi, Gucci Mane, Lil Jon, Ludacris and T.I. all representing Atlanta.
The 2023 ESSENCE Festival Of Culture is definitely hip-hop heavy, but an array of Black music from around the diaspora will be showcased. Newly added singers Tems and Muni Long will join Monica, Coco Jones, Kizz Daniel and special guest Wizkid on stage at Caesars Superdome.
This year’s ESSENCE Fest is sounding like quite the lituation. Tickets and packages are still available for purchase on the ESSENCE Festival Of Culture website or Ticketmaster. After you secure your tickets, finish your NOLA trip planning by booking your travel and hotel accommodations.
