In the nearly two years since Zo! and Tall Black Guy’s collaborative effort Abstractions was released, it has never left our rotation. The set was chock-full of jams from front to back and included features from some of our faves. Most of all, though, it was a solid collaborative effort from two of the best producers in the game right now. Who could ask for anything more? Well, you don’t have to because the duo is giving it to you anyway with a surprise deluxe edition of the album.

The set’s original nine tracks are included, including standouts “Connected,” “Talkin’ To Myself” and “Hold My Hand.” What makes this edition so deluxe is the inclusion of two new tracks and three new remixes. The first new track is “Dem Nights” featuring Phonte. It’s a smooth cut about cutting up on a night out on the town that’s made even smoother thanks to the vocal talents of The Foreign Exchange’s frontman. That’s followed up by dance floor burner “In The Wind,” which features Debórah Bond. This one ventures into house territory with a slight jazzy feel.

Of the remixes bundled here, there two remixes of instrumental track “Blackout.” The first entitled “Blackout (The Scene Remix)” is handled by Zo! and picks up where the original left off, infusing vocal samples and a disco-influenced groove into the mix to make this version sparkle and shine like a night at Studio 54. Famed producer Daz-I-Kue handles the second “Blackout” remix, amping up breakneck pace with a space-age sound that really sets things off. The final remix is Terry Hunter’s flip of “Connected.” The famed producer and DJ works his magic on a club mix of the track that turns up the volume on the song’s house feel, beckoning anyone who’s listening to twirl it out on the dance floor.

The Abstractions (Deluxe Edition) expands upon everything we loved about the initial album, showcasing once again how exciting the collaboration between Zo! and Tall Black Guy is and just how far it can go.
