Aretha Franklin became an ancestor in 2018, but she left behind a legendary legacy. Parts of her life story in music have been adapted for the big and small screen, and now the Queen of Soul’s music is coming to life on the stage in R.E.S.P.E.C.T., a celebratory Aretha Franklin tribute concert experience. R.E.S.P.E.C.T. has been on tour since 2022, and it is finally landing in the DMV area next week for two shows. That’s great news on its own, but the best news of all is that SoulBounce is giving away tickets to both shows.
R.E.S.P.E.C.T. will start its DMV run on Wednesday, March 22nd with a show in Tysons, VA at Capital One Hall. The production will conclude its visit to the area on Thursday, March 23 with an event in Baltimore, MD at Hippodrome Theatre. We can’t think of a better way to upgrade a weeknight than by seeing an uber-talented group of vocalists and musicians performing hits from Aretha Franklin’s songbook.
Attendees can look forward to hearing singers YahZarah, Meghan Dawson, Chela Faulkner, Jasmine Alena Tompkins and Terrell Foster-James belt out tune after tune while TJ Griffin, Osei Kweki, Kenneth “Gypsy” Simpson, Billy White and Michael Williams make beautiful music together in the band. R.E.S.P.E.C.T. is directed by Christina Sajous, and Darnell White is the music supervisor.
