It seems like Ciara can’t do much without causing an internet-wide conversation. The latest talk of the town was a racy and revealing dress she wore to the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party. But if you thought CiCi would care about what the haters had to say, then you don’t know her very well. In fact, she’s on to the next with the release of her newest single “Da Girls.”
“Da Girls” is dedicated to all the women out there in the world as she shows her solidarity on the OG Parker and Mike Woods-produced cut. Over the mid-tempo bump of the production, she lets us know exactly who she’s speaking to as she sings the chorus.
“This is for the girls getting money / This is for the girls who don’t need no man / This is for the girls who love yourself,” she sings. “This is for all the girls who up and did it by themselves / This is for all the girls that’s I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T / This is for all the girls that be livin’ stress-free.” The verses, meanwhile, give a pep talk as she encourages herself and other ladies to “get that money, sis” while also flossing about her fabulous life as Mrs. Wilson.
The track’s accompanying video shows Ciara lounging and relaxing around her mansion with her posse of ladies. They enjoy the spoils of the good life while having a girls’ day as they dance, love and throw bills in the air. And just to make sure her haters get the message, she also takes the time to put on that aforementioned dress one more time just to show how unfazed she is.
Ciara seems to be the epitome of unbothered here, and we aren't mad at all. Listen to “Da Girls” when you press play and watch her twirl on her haters in the song’s video below.
