Samara Joy is currently basking in that special glow that being a GRAMMY winner affords you. The singer was already making the rounds, but it seems like she’s popping up everywhere these days and we aren’t mad about it one bit. The latest stop on her award tour is The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The songstress took to the stage with her song “Guess Who I Saw Today,” which is featured on her album Linger Awhile. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Samara perform the song on television, with the singer also blessing The Jennifer Hudson Show recently with a breathtaking showing. This performance however, brought the mood of the song along with Joy’s stellar vocals with a dimly lit set reminiscent of a jazz club.
The songstress commanded the stage with her presence, looking out into the camera as she delivered the song’s heartbreaking (and scandalous) narrative. Each performance she gives of the song offers new musical choices and phrasing, and that’s still true with this one, with her choosing to linger on some notes and clipping others while still giving us crystal clear precision. The crowning moment, though, was the finale where she went from a husky low to a soaring high note as band played in support.
