Magic Mike’s Last Dance gyrated and body rolled itself to the top spot at the box office over the weekend. Audiences who settled in for a little eye candy onscreen were also treated to some ear candy courtesy of singer Lucky Daye and his latest single “Careful.”
For the soundtrack’s first single, Daye keeps it sexy as he warns the object of his affections that she might end up sprung if he’s given the chance. “Drip, know you wantin’ more than a sip / Shootin’ from the hip / See you, finna load another clip / Out of hand / Admit that you in over your head,” he sings as his voice drips with confidence.
Produced by Scribz Riley, “Careful” is a slow, sensual burn that is perfect for the racy flick about a male exotic dance troupe. Opening with the melancholy sound of a violin, things pick up once the bass kicks in and Daye begins his slow dance of seduction.
“Careful” marks Lucky’s first single of 2023 and is the follow-up to his GRAMMY-nominated sophomore album Candydrip and its subsequent deluxe edition, which dropped in December. While he didn’t take home any awards at this year’s ceremony, the New Orleans native is still flying high with “Stay,” his duet with Alicia Keys getting a video release last week.
Settle in and indulge your senses in the latest that Lucky Daye has to offer as we wait to see what his next musical chess move will be.
