Things have been quiet on the music front in the wake of the holidays, but that will change later this month with a few exciting new releases on our radar. One of the projects we're looking forward to comes from Washington, D.C. native Oddisee, who is readying his latest effort To What End. He's dropped a few singles in the lead-up to the set, and he gifts us another with his newest "Try Again."

"Try Again" finds the rapper/producer encouraging us to keep on keeping on in the pursuit of whatever our heart desires. To aid in that effort, he whips up a funky sound bed that features keys, quick-firing drums and guitar licks that throw back to the disco era. Meanwhile, he also offers motivational bars and a hopeful chorus on which he sings, "I hope you try again / All this time you spent / All that love you gave / Please don’t walk away, try again." It all comes together to create a groove that you can both dance and strive to as you focus on your efforts.

"In my 20 years of making music, it hasn't always been easy. For me, happiness is the reward for working hard at doing what I love," Oddisee said about his inspiration for the track in a press release. "Finding happiness in my failures [and] mistakes by using them as an opportunity to learn has been my biggest incentive to keep trying."

We music lovers will be reaping the benefits of Oddisee's perseverance later this month. You'll find "Try Again" among other tracks when To What End is released on Friday, January 20th. Until then, you can listen to the single right here when you press play.
