Even the best relationships are met with challenges. Despite the efforts of both parties, internal conflicts and outside forces can sometimes infiltrate and interrupt an otherwise blissful union. Singer-songwriter Mack Keane teams up once again with producer ESTA. to tell the tale of love’s highs and lows on their newest collaboration, the single “Super.”
Co-written by Mack, Dustin “Dab” Bowie and Mike “Hunnid” McGregor, “Super” captures the bounty of emotional energy required when one is determined to see things through. Over the smooth, sultry track Mack sings, “Melodies and vacations / And sticky situations / Shawty testin’ my patience, yeah / And I ain't even say sh**.” Though his frustration is obvious, he still sings the praises of his “diamond-covered lover” and vows to shower her with “superhuman” love.
This latest offering follows last year’s release of the duo’s collaborative Intersections EP, which featured Destin Conrad and Joyce Wrice. More recently, Mack was featured in the latest episode of SoundCloud’s award-winning original docuseries SCENES. The fall 2022 installment entitled, “SCENES: SoCal Soul,” focused on the underground R&B music scene in Southern California and casts a spotlight on the new generation of artists including, Fana Hues, India Shawn, Alex Isley, Kenyon Dixon, D’Mile and Jack Dine.
During the nearly 15-minute doc, Mack reflected on his definition of R&B music. “It’s allowing yourself to be vulnerable. There’s pain in it,” he was quoted as saying. His reflection is illustrated in his unique ability to channel the thoughts and feelings that are often hard to explain through his music, and we’re excited to hear more.
