Hil St. Soul fans got an early Christmas present last month when she released her long-awaited new album Back In Love, which we world premiered right here on SoulBounce. We've been basking in the awesomeness of the project, content with its 11 new songs after over a decade between albums, but the new music just keeps coming! Hil has another musical gift just in time for the holidays with her latest single “Christmas With You.”
The yuletide slow jam co-written by Soul and producer Lorenzo Johnson expresses a relatable sentiment this time of year – the joy of being with the one you love at Christmas. Hil's P.O.V. is that of someone in a long-distance relationship. She tells her sweetie that no matter how far apart they may be, the love is strong and the longing even stronger.
“You might be a million miles away / But I’m counting down the minutes of the day, when I’m in your arms again / Waiting for you to walk through that door / So I can kiss you under the mistletoe / And wrap you like my present for Christmas,” she serenades her long-distance lover on the first verse.
As Soul daydreams about spending Christmas with her holiday honey, thoughts of love abound. “All I think about is love / When I think about us," she later sings before sharing on the chorus, “Every time I think about you / I want to spend my Christmas with you, only you.”
Long distance is usually the wrong distance, but Hil St. Soul makes love across the miles and a Christmastime reunion sound pretty good on “Christmas With You.”
Hil calls this track her “gift of love, peace and hope for the holidays,” and it's given us all the warm, fuzzy, lovey-dovey feelings. This is her first Christmas song, but we certainly hope it's not her last. Grab some mistletoe and that special someone as you take a listen to Hil. St. Soul’s “Christmas With You” right here.
