Producer/artist Channel Tres has been making waves over the years with singles like "Controller" and "Topdown," features with artists like Tinashe and production for the likes of DUCKWRTH, Wale and Kehlani. Now he's ready to make even more moves with his upcoming debut album Real Cultural S**t. He's already released a few singles from the set, but he's giving the masses one more with his latest cut "6am."
The feel-good track is all about having a good time, with the party-starting adage "we ain't leaving 'til six in the morning" acting as its backbone. Channel Tres expounds on that adage with lyrics about the high life and good times. That's paired with a bold, synth-heavy beat that's soaked in a groove meant to get you moving and shaking on the dance floor.
The single is brought to life with an equally audacious video featuring Channel Tres and a few other sharp-dressed men roaming around the sun-drenched streets of Los Angeles in their pimped-out best. Their smooth moves are spectacle enough, but the clip's cinematography and choices make what could've been just a simple video very visually appealing.
"'6am' is a happy song, and I never really let myself make happy songs," Channel Tres said of the song. "For me right now, this song represents the grind, and sometimes when things get hard you just gotta dance your way through it. I wanted to create a song for people to come together and dance. Some people get off work at 6 a.m., some people leave the club at 6 a.m. and this can be the soundtrack to it all."
We have a feeling the whole of Real Cultural S**t will be a soundtrack for many when it arrives. While we wait on an official release date, check out both the stream and video for "6am" below and see if you can catch him on his mostly sold-out current tour by purchasing a ticket via his website.
