We think it's safe to say that most people don't enjoy doing laundry. Despite that assumption, the place where folks go to wash and fold seems to get the creative juices of singers and songwriters going. The latest to take us there is indie soul singer Brik.Liam, who offers us an inviting slice of soul with his latest single "laundromat (close)."

Brik.Liam, whom we last heard from on his 2019 EP What's The Matter, Brik?, is back in his bag for "laundromat (close)" as he kicks a romantic tune over a modern soul groove. While the drums roll and the warmth of the instrumental arrangement (which includes synths, guitar and keys) washes over us, the singer-songwriter sets the tone.

"Come here / Where I need you to be / The way you're near / I need you right next to me / Right here," he coaxes on the opening verse as he puts in his bid to get closer than close. And though he makes some references to a literal laundromat, he also speaks metaphorically as he describes the cycling and tumbling of the world whenever his boo is around.

The song on the whole is a perfect example of why Brik.Liam is one of our faves. Whether it be his mean pen game, his ear for melody or his rich voice, he doesn't disappoint whenever he steps into the booth. Hopefully this new single means there's more to come down the line.
