If you're looking to jazz up your seasonal playlists this year, Alicia Keys is entering the festive fray with news of the forthcoming release of her debut holiday album Santa Baby, which will be available exclusively on Apple Music.
After 21 years in the game, Alicia Keys is just now releasing a Christmas collection, which has been a rite of passage for many an artist. The timing is perfect for the multi-talented entertainer, though, who'll make Santa Baby the first release on her very own independent record label Alicia Keys Records.
Keys is smartly dropping evergreen content for her introduction as an indie artist after being signed to major labels for over two decades. Recorded this summer while she traveled the world on her most recent tour, Santa Baby will feature four new songs written by the 15-time GRAMMY Award winner and remakes of seven yuletide classics.
Alicia gave her followers a preview of coming attractions earlier this week on social media. She posted a short video of her seated at a piano with a Christmas tree in the background. Speaking the words "Hello Santa, is this really you?" into the mic over some chords, the video clip ends before you can even say "Merry Christmas."
This snippet could very well be the first single from the project, the song "December Back 2 June," which is scheduled to drop on Friday, October 28th. While we wait to find out, Alicia Keys is as excited as a kid on Christmas morning about Santa Baby's impending release.
"I love this music! It feels so good! I picked each song based on my all-time favorites, and I wrote the new ones based on real holiday emotions and stories," Keys shared in a statement to the press. "'Santa Baby' is definitely going to be the perfect holiday soundtrack. I can’t wait for you to fall in love with it."
