Ari Lennox is basking in the glow of love that fans and critics have shown her new album age/sex/location. It's no wonder, then, that she was radiant during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this week to perform ASL cuts "POF" and "Waste My Time."
Lennox brought the razzle dazzle to Jimmy Fallon's stage after his brief intro. Dressed in a sparkly silver and nude gown with strategic cutouts, netting and a revealing slit, Ari was giving Diana Ross class and realness. She rocked a few bundles pulled into a full, high ponytail and her makeup was subtle yet glam. As incredible as she looked, though, she sounded even better.
Standing center stage on a raised platform, Ari was backed by musicians on keys, upright bass and drums and a trio of supporting vocalists. The stage was bathed in blue light, which gave it the air of an intimate jazz club. The mood was the perfect setting for "POF" with its jazzy foundation.
She sang the first couple verses of "POF" before a smooth segue into "Waste My Time." The vibe and lighting on stage changed with the tempo. A screen in the background lit up with an animated variation of the age/sex/location album cover with shades of pink, purple and cream.
