Ari Lennox is ready to rock 'n' roll. The songstress is finally days away from the release of her sophomore album age/sex/location, and she's as excited to get it to her fans as her fans are to receive it. In the lead-up to Friday's drop, she has unveiled the album's front and back cover art, the collection's complete 12-song tracklist and the guest artists who'll be joining her on the project.
age/sex/location is the follow-up to Lennox's 2019 debut album Shea Butter Baby, and the new album's cover art displays her style evolution. Ari goes from shea butter baby to R&B baddie in a barely-there bedazzled bikini and long, sleek tresses. She's serving legs, and hips, and body in a tasteful not tacky way, and she looks downright luxurious on the front and back images.
Of course, the back cover artwork also features the album's tracklist, which has been under lock and key until now. As previously noted, the 12-song tracklist does include singles "Pressure" and "Hoodie." Also making the cut is her Summer Walker duet "Queen Space," which Ari debuted in advance of her surprise EP Away Message a week ago.
Away Message has had us in a chokehold since its release, and there was speculation if any or all of the EP's songs would make it onto age/sex/location. Now it's confirmed that only "Queen Space" will be in the number, which is an interesting plot twist because Away Message was excellent from beginning to end. For that song to be the only one included from that set, that must mean that Ari has some heat hummin' comin' at us.
In addition to Summer Walker, Ari has two more duets on age/sex/location. GRAMMY Award-winner Lucky Daye will join her on the song "Boy Bye," and R&B It girl Chlöe will be her guest on "Leak It." With other song titles such as "POF" (a callout to the dating app Plenty Of Fish), "Mean Mug," "Outside" and "Blocking You," age/sex/location sounds like it's going to be a time.
Ari Lennox's age/sex/location will be released on Friday, September 9th, and it is available for pre-save/pre-order from all digital music services.
