The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards went down in all of its over-the-top glory once again this past weekend. While the lineup of performers was quite diverse, it was more than a bit light on the R&B side. Thankfully, our girl Lizzo was there to represent. And represent she did with a dynamic performance of her hits "About Damn Time" and "2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)."

The songstress took advantage of the award show's set, with a pre-programmed video on the screen allowing her to perform with hundreds of versions of herself on the stage. This came in handy as she kicked off the performance with a brief snippet of her chart-topper "About Damn Time" with the lyrics illustrated behind her and beneath her feet.

After a moment of playing a giant version of piano keys like she was Tom Hanks in Big, she got into “2 Be Loved" with vigor. She put on a one-woman show that showed her contemporaries how it was done, making sure to keep her signature smile on her face the whole time. Many would have let the screen gimmick do most of the heavy lifting, but Lizzo set the stage aflame with a seemingly boundless reserve of energy that radiated off the stage and through the screens.

The night also ended up being a triumphant one as the singer took her a moonman for the vague "Video For Good" category. While even Lizzo was confused at what the award meant, she took the moment to show a little love and address some of the haters (*cough* Aries Spears *cough*) who seem to always keep her name in their mouth.
