It's long been established that Babyface is the man, but he's stepping aside to put women in the spotlight on his next album. Entitled Girls Night Out, the collection will feature collaborations with a few of contemporary R&B's freshest female singers. He introduced the project with the Ella Mai duet “Keeps On Fallin’,” and now he combines his talents with multi-platinum singer-songwriter and Oakland native Kehlani on the new single “Seamless.”

Babyface and Kehlani co-wrote "Seamless" alongside The Rascals. The production duo also co-produced the song with Face, and they lay down an intoxicating track with synths, acoustic guitar and a ticking, clock-like drumbeat. The song primarily features Kehlani on lead with Babyface only lending his legendary vocals on backgrounds and the third verse.

"Seamless" finds Kehlani at their wits' end dealing with a partner who is a loose cannon and always causing drama, especially when they've got that liquor in them. Kehlani paints the scene from the first verse, lamenting, "Always givin’ me hell every time that you drink / Two tequila shots in, now you wanna read me / Tryna have a good time, now you wanna make a scene." Lani is just trying to enjoy a chill night out, but it's turned into anything but.

Babyface comes through as the voice of reason with some sage advice on his verse. He urges Kehlani to see the bigger picture and identify the root cause of why old girl is acting up. "She got somethin’ that she want to say (What you talkin' 'bout?) / If you listen, you can hear her pain (Man, she be showin' out) / And there’s a reason why she acts that way," he sings but Kehlani isn't buying it.

So far, Babyface is two-for-two with his latest collaborations, and Girls Night Out promises to deliver more heat like "Keeps On Fallin'" and "Seamless" with artists such as Ari Lennox, Queen Naija and Doechii joining him on the album. Face has always had the knack for collaborating with the right artists and leveraging his musical genius to get the best out of them, and we can't wait to hear the completed results.

Girls Night Out is coming our way on Friday, October 21st, and it will mark Babyface's Capitol Records debut. This album is shaping up to be another must-own, so get in line when the pre-order link drops. Til then, press play below to listen to "Seamless."
