Kenyon Dixon is in celebration mode right now. This week the gifted singer-songwriter turned 33 years old and began his Jesus Year. His birthday isn't the only reason why he's popping champagne bottles, though. R&B Kenny is days away from hitting the highway to start his CLOSER No Skips Tour, and he's excited to spread the gospel of R&B from coast to coast to his fans.
What really makes this concert tour special is the fact that it's Kenyon's first tour as a headliner. After years of supporting numerous artists on stages around the world with his background vocals, he's stepping to the foreground and into the well-deserved spotlight on the CLOSER No Skips Tour.
Named after his excellent new album Closer and the fact that it's a straight-up no skips album filled with singles, Dixon's CLOSER No Skips Tour will, of course, showcase cuts from that project, such as singles "Love On Replay" and "Get High, Get By." Also, expect him to reach back into his deep bag of previous releases and for Kenny to put his spin on a few classics, such as his insane cover of Tevin Campbell's "Can We Talk" with Will Gittens, to bring fans the R&B they love.
Helping him on this mission will be special guests Byron Juane and Rose Gold. In addition to those singers who'll be performing in selected cities, Kenyon held a social media contest to find local up-and-coming R&B singers to be his openers in each city on the tour. He's already announced a few winners for the #CLOSERToTheStage contest with more to artists to be revealed.
The CLOSER No Skips Tour starts on Tuesday, July 12th in San Francisco and then ventures to many major cities across the United States. Tour stops include San Diego, Dallas, Houston, New Orleans, Atlanta, Charlotte, Philadelphia, NYC, D.C., Detroit, Chicago, Cincinnati and his hometown of Los Angeles where he'll wrap everything up on Sunday, August 21st.
