To say that Jussie Smollett has had an interesting 2022 would undoubtedly be an understatement. The singer/actor seems to be taking it all in stride, though. In fact, he's pulling the focus from his controversies to his art, including his directorial debut B-Boy Blues. He's also getting back to music, dropping off his new single "Some Things."

"Some Things" is an obvious grab at filling the dance floor and the song is pretty successful at it. The groove is based around throbbing, heartbeat-like bass and blissful synth chords that create a warm, inviting sound perfect for getting your two-step on.

Jussie glides into that set up with his falsetto in tow as he sets the scene. "Got just about a million things to do / Right now I wish they all included you," he sings on the opening verse as he describes how much he wants to be in the embrace of his lover. He later takes things carnal as he describes them "dancing in the dark / feelin' on body parts."

The chorus itself keeps things simple, with the song's undeniable groove doing the heavy lifting as Jussie sings, "There's some things that I simply cannot do / Without you."
