It's been a minute since an R&B girl group got some shine. That's probably why London-based group FLO has been the talk of the town ever since they released their debut single "Cardboard Box." The trio is smartly capitalizing off the momentum of that track with two major announcements. The first is that their debut EP The Lead will be released sooner than we could've imagined. The second is that they're giving us another taste of their talent with their second single "Immature."
The ladies once again turn to MNEK for production duties. He, along with Jamal Woon, gives the ladies a dark, moody groove with hints of late '90s R&B charm. The mood of the track suits the lyrics as the ladies once again read a man the riot act.
"Say you want my body, body / But you ain't never do a thing about it / Baby, lovin' you is such a chore / 'Cause you're steady moving immature," they sing on the scathing chorus. "I don’t want no body, body / Who talk the talk but don’t do s**t about it / Say you gonna put it down for sure / Why you gotta be so immature?"
"'Immature' is about being strong and confident in yourself and we really don’t have time for someone being immature," FLO said in a press release. "It's OK for you to tell a partner, 'You're not giving me what I want and you say you want my body, but you aren’t doing anything about it!' It's our more grown-up record and the next phase of the story to 'Cardboard Box.' We had to dump them in 'Cardboard Box,' but this is about why it was necessary."
"Immature" will, of course, appear on The Lead when it's released on July 8th. Oh snap, that's this Friday! Guess we'd better get ready for what FLO is bringing to the table.
