In the span of a few months, Doechii has gone from relative unknown to having her name on the tip of everyone's tongue. She's no overnight sensation, but she has taken the music industry by storm with three singles on TDE – "Persuasive," "Crazy" and her latest, "B***h I'm Nice" – and a string of high-profile, high-energy performances. Doechii actually takes fans into her world of performances and appearances in the visualizer for "B***h I'm Nice."
The video begins with Doechii's team getting her glammed up for the shoot while a voiceover of her talking her ish is heard before cutting to a scene of her backstage at a show. The scenes switch between her dressed in stylish lewks around a mansion and leaving it all on the stage at various performances from Coachella to ESSENCE Fest in front of hyped-up crowds. Much like the song, Doechii packs a lot into the video's brief runtime.
Doechii gets more screentime thanks to MTV Push who named her their Global Push Artist for July, and she put on quite a show for her feature. A performance of "Persuasive" was first on the menu, where she's joined by an eclectic troupe of dancers (a couple of whom were in the music video) who strike fierce poses in the background. Four dancers flanked Doechii while she sang, and they're soon joined by four more and that's when things really got going.
The set turned into a makeshift ballroom, and the dancers started to turn up, matching Doechii's energy on the microphone. They vogued for their lives to the song's thumping house beat before surrounding the multitalented artist who added her moves to the mix. Once she stepped to the side, she gave the dancers the floor while she hyped them up before they each ended with a dramatic dip.
The dance party continued for Doechii and her crew for "B***h I'm Nice." While she popped off, they went off with more exciting choreography.
During the interview portion for the feature, Doechii shared how the song came about because she wanted to include house music and her gay culture on her album, and producer Kal Banx hooked her up. She later gave MTV the scoop that her first release on TDE will be a four-song EP entitled she/her/black b***h, a nod to her preferred pronouns and a negative phrase that she's flipped.
Doechii didn't give any indication about when the EP will drop, but with all of her momentum right now, we'd guess it'll be coming pretty soon to set the rest of summer on fire.
