With summer's official start just a week away, we're already thinking about all the barbecues, cookouts, house parties and kickbacks we're going to attend. All the aforementioned events need a good soundtrack, of course, and we can't think of a much better song to set things off than John Legend's recent banger "Dope." It seems he feels the same as he dropped the visual for the track to match the song's warm, breezy vibes.

The song is reminiscent of 2000s-era radio-friendly R&B, but he goes back a bit further for the visual with settings and attire that make us think of the 1970s. The mixture translates well on the screen, giving is a clash of eras that is, well, dope.

In the center of it all is John, who plays his usual charismatic everyman role as he sings about a woman he can't get off his mind. While he sings, we watch a plethora of beautiful people toast, cheer and celebrate life. By the time JID slides through for his verse, the party is in full swing and joints are being puffed as the crowd sways to the track's undeniable groove.

Who knew that John Legend could get the party started like this? Watch the video for "Dope" (and let us know if you also peeped the tease to a possible new single with Muni Long) when you press play below.
