Jacob Banks has something special in store for us this summer. The British singer-songwriter will finally be releasing his anticipated new album Lies About The War this August. We got a listen to what the set has to offer when he released "Just When I Thought" back in March. Now he gives us another taste with new single "By Design (Evel Knievel)."

The "Evel Knievel" part of the song's title might have you thinking of death-defying stunts, but the song actually deals with the risk of falling back in love with someone. "Well, well / If this is love I'm back on board / Though I've ridden this bus before," he sings on the track. "Maybe it's more, maybe it's not / Oh, I'll know when we meet the wall."

The verses are giving nonchalance it seems, but they're underscored by thoughtful instrumentation — including a churchy organ and piano melody and bluesy swing — that speak to the emotional core of what he's feeling. That's why the simple chorus rings so true when he sings earnestly, "All I got is love and time / Oh, I'm just living by design."

It sounds like we're in for some soulful reflection from Jacob Banks when Lies About The War arrives later this summer. Stream "By Design (Evel Knievel)" below, then stick around to sing along with the song's animated lyric video.
